Location filming for Game of Thrones in Duvbrovnik, Croatia has begun! And thanks to some enterprising bloggers down in the former Yugoslav republic, we have the pictures to prove it.
At the historic Trsteno Arboretum, several members of press were allowed to watch the filming of scenes which featured Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer), Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie), and Lady Olenna Redwynne (Diana Rigg). The scenes were apparently a part of the fourth season’s first episode.
Meanwhile, over at Gradac Park, a set is also being constructed. It’s not clear which scenes will be set there, but it certainly fits the pomp and pageantry of King’s Landing.
This is the third year in a row that HBO has filmed Game of Thrones in Dubrovnik, which stands in for King’s Landing. Dubrovnik mayor Andro Vlahusic even had this to say:
“Co-operation with HBO is really important to the city. The first time they came we all thought that it would only be for one year and that Dubrovnik would only be a backdrop, but over the years it’s turned into a real collaboration.”
