While many are binge-watching The Defenders (see our review) this weekend, Netflix is also teasing yet another programme in their already packed Marvel line-up. Here’s our first proper clip of the standalone series for The Punisher, which features Daredevil frenemy Frank Castle (played by Jon Bernthal).

The trailer shows bits of Castle’s past, including his time in the military, and the murder of his family. And while we don’t get to see much else, it’s still an effective teaser thanks to the unsettling score and Castle’s grim narration, which is hell intense!

Bernthal won over fans with his portrayal of the tormented and deadly vigilante in the second season of Daredevil. The last we saw Castle, he learned that those he respected most had played him and he fully embraces his role as The Punisher.

From this trailer, it looks like the man isn’t stopping anytime soon and will be continuing on his blood-soaked path of vengeance. There is no confirmed date yet, but The Punisher is expected to be out later this year.

Are you excited to see The Punisher go on a rampage in his own standalone series?
