“Only the fiercest among us even could. And that is not you, Diana,” says Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen) to her little daughter of the Sword of Athena. Which you just know is the cue for Diana to prove her mother wrong, not to mention a training montage with her aunt General Antiope (Robin Wright, in fine arse-kicking form).

Purely on the strength of the trailers alone, it’s beginning to look more and more like Wonder Woman could well be the salvation of the DC Extended Universe. The very first superheroine movie of the modern age – all while Black Widow is still languishing – and a much needed salve after the, shall we say, disappointments of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad.

The action in the latest Wonder Woman trailer, which explores Diana of Themyscira’s origin, looks expertly choreographed, while Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor looks to have brought plenty of wit and charm to the fray. The sexism of early 20th century London society also looks to be a perfect place for Diana to throw off the shackles of man’s world.

Now, let’s just hope those claims from last year that the movie is messy are completely false….
