It’s Saturday (August 26) and we are at AsiaPOP Comicon 2017 in Manila. Hall N of the SMX convention centre is packed to the rafters with some 1,200 people as we patiently await the arrival of four cast members from Stranger Things season 2. Fans are completely on edge and any hint of the quartet appearing sets them into a cheery frenzy.

After what seems like an eternity, Noah Schnapp a.k.a. Will Byers is finally introduced and the crowd goes wild. It only intensifies when Joe Keery a.k.a. Steve Harrington – he of the magnificent hair – strolls on stage.

The duo discuss how it feels to create a phenomenon that has arrested television-dom’s attention. “Without you guys (the fans), we wouldn’t have a show,” says Joe, who also reveals that his character Steve will experience a story arc in season 2 that is similar to that of season 1.

This means that we are going to see more of that reformed bad boy come October – and possibly his love triangle with Nancy Wheeler (Natalie Dyer) and Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton)?

And then the fans go completely insane when new cast members Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery show up.

Sadie plays newcomer Max, who is a bit of a tomboy and throws a new dynamic into the interactions of the famous five. Dacre, hot off his role as Red Ranger in the new Power Rangers movie, plays Billy. He’ll be a new antagonist who creates a lot of obstacles for the group.

“The duffer brothers gave me a lot of Jack Nicholson movies to watch as a reference for my character” ~ Dacre

The audience was then treated to the San Diego Comic Con Stranger Things 2 trailer. After that, the cast fielded fan questions on burning topics like which shipper they support, Jancy or Stancy. This is the ongoing debate on who should get together with Nancy: Jonathan or Steve?

They closed out the panel with character posters which were designed in the classic folded style movie posters of the 1980’s. And as a parting gift from the entire panel to the audience, they confirmed that there WILL be justice for Barb!

Stay tuned for our exclusive interview with the cast of Stranger Things Season 2 at AsiaPOP Comicon 2017, coming very soon!
