Four alternate designs for Spidey’s suit in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) have emerged. And I have to admit, they all look pretty, well, amazing.
First up – this design looks closest to the comic book version that fanboys are familiar with. While the wedding under the armpits – gross as it sounds – is a nice homage to the Lee/Ditko design, I have to agree with Bleeding Cool: it would probably have looked cheesy on film. Notice how they did away with the classic black spider emblem on the chest, though.
The other three designs have a somewhat futuristic feel to them, bringing to mind Rick Leonardi’s design for Spider-Man 2099. They all have slight variations on the eye pieces and spider emblem, but for my money, the second design here looks closest to the one Andrew Garfield eventually wore in the movie.
Meanwhile, the gloriously named Marc Webb – director of Amazing Spider-Man 2 as well – has said that the sequel will have a slightly redesigned costume. Here’s what Spidey’s mask will look like.
What do you think of these alternate designs? What should Spidey’s costume look like in Amazing Spider-Man 2? Tell us!
