Despite the online backlash about Ben Affleck’s casting in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel, Warner Bros. is sticking by its Batman.
At an investor gathering on Thursday, Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara said that Affleck was “perfect” to star opposite Henry Cavill’s Superman in the film, which is directed by Zack Snyder and scheduled for a 2015 release.
“We think it’s going to be huge,” Tsujijara said at the event. “Ben is perfect for the vision Zack has for that character. The fact that you saw such a passionate response in the blogosphere is really kind of a testament to the love that people have for this character.”
He added that the Batfleck will be portrayed as “tired and weary and seasoned and been doing it for awhile”.
Tsujihara also hinted at more from DC, saying that “a lot of announcements would be coming from the DC Comics unit of Warner Bros. Maybe it’ll be something like Doomsday’s new emo-kid look or casting White Rabbit as Bat’s love interest in the Batman vs Superman movie.
With Disney pushing Marvel’s Ant-Man movie forward for a summer release date in 2015, DC may feel the urge to do something extraordinary to win the battle of the blockbusters. Let’s hope, for their sake, that their announcements won’t end up on hasdcdonesomethingstupidtoday.com.
