It’s a move that makes perfect sense for Marvel’s Phase 4, especially considering what a massive star Benedict Cumberbatch is. The Cumbs has confirmed that his character Doctor Strange will appear in Avengers: Infinity War, which brings together a shitload of Marvel characters against Thanos (Josh Brolin).
Cumberbatch revealed the move during Empire’s visit to the Doctor Strange set, when he told the venerable magazine about the “logistical challenge of aligning his schedule with those of Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany.”
The man who almost wasn’t Doctor Strange went on to elaborate, “to get us all together will be quite something. That’s why this character is being introduced, to open up the next chapter”, adding “so watch this space to see how that unfolds.”
The Guardians of the Galaxy (cosmic space team) have already been confirmed for Infinity War, so it makes sense for Strange to join the fray and further introduce fans to the mystical aspect of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Plus, there’s the small matter of an Infinity Gauntlet to deal with.
