Crazy Rich Asians has a release date: it will be out in US cinemas on August 17, 2018. No Singapore release date is confirmed yet.

Based on the hit novel by Kevin Kwan, the story follows Rachel Chu (Constance Wu), an American-born Chinese economics professor, who accompanies her Singaporean boyfriend Nick (Henry Golding) home for his best friend’s lavish wedding.

That’s when Rachel discovers that Nick comes from an astonishingly wealthy family and is perhaps the most eligible bachelor in Asia. And it seems every woman in this social class is jealous of Rachel and out to take her down.

The comedy is directed by Now You See Me 2 director Jon M. Chu and boasts an all-Asian cast, a first for a Hollywood blockbuster. It stars some of the biggest Asian names in the industry including Michelle Yeoh and Ken Jeong, as well as a handful of Singaporean actors.

Are you looking forward to seeing this iconic Singapore novel come to life on the big screen?
