After the production stills that we saw last December, Marvel and Netflix have seen fit to drop the very first Marvel’s Daredevil teaser trailer on us.

And it’s good to see that Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) remains the tortured Catholic, with an opening sequence that sees him going to confession. “I’ve been preoccupied of late with questions of morality, of right and wrong, good and evil,” he tells the good padre.

Interspersed with the confessional are shots of Karen Page (Deborah Ann Wohl) and a bloodied body, a certain bald, stocky man seen only from the back and an old, blind man with stick-thin (see what I did there) white hair.

It all culminates with Matt in his all-black, ninja-like costume (thanks, Frank Miller!) stalking a darkened corridor, listening for…something.

The whole tone feels grim and dark and gritty, with plenty of blood and guns, and that’s just the way we like it. Cox’s American accent also sounds pitch perfect, and I can’t wait to see what he does with the character.

Marvel’s Daredevil will be available on Netflix from Apr 10. In the meantime, check out the rest of our Daredevil coverage here
