According to The Guardian, BBC Worldwide has signed a £2 billion deal with London Resort Company Holdings to feature popular BBC shows in an upcoming theme park.
The London Paramount Entertainment Resort intends to “combine the glamour of Hollywood with the best of British culture,” apparently. And really, how can you claim to have the best of British culture if you don’t feature Benny or Matt or Peter or Martin?
So while there’s been no confirmation on which properties will feature in the theme park, it’s a given that the BBC’s most popular shows – such as Sherlock, Doctor Who and Top Gear – will make the cut to become “rides, interactive simulators and experiences.”
The project is still in its early stages, but may be completed by Easter 2020. It will be built on the Swanscombe peninsula, between Dartford and Gravesend on the southern bank of the Thames estuary.
That’s six years away, but hey, it’s never too early to start planning that trip to London!
