At long last, Crazy Rich Asians has cast some Singaporeans! Author Kevin Kwan broke the news on Facebook early this morning that a trio of Singaporeans is joining the Hollywood production, which began filming in Kuala Lumpur this month and is expected to come to the Republic in May.

Sadly, Chin Han, our most high-profile export to Hollywood, won’t be a part of the movie. As Singaporeans will know, Xie, Png and Tan are all well-established names here. Tan has also featured in international productions in recent years, including British drama series Cold Feet and Netflix series Marco Polo.

There’s no word yet on who the trio will play, but one can only hope they have been cast in substantial roles that involve speaking more than one line and/or hovering in the background of key scenes.

Meanwhile, other actors cast include Chinese-American/Korean rapper Awkwafina, Australian actor Chris Pang (who, surprise surprise, also starred in Marco Polo) and The Daily Show‘s Ronny Chieng. They’ll be joining Constance Wu and Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh, as well as Henry Golding.
