Those who have watched Terminator 2 (1991) will know that Linda Hamilton’s Sarah Connor portrayal left big shoes for anyone else stepping into the role. Most notably in the ass-kicking department.
Rick Grimes’ little daughter aside, one of the biggest ass-kickers in recent memory has to be Daenerys Targaryen, also known as the Mother of Dragons and suspected pyromaniac who is conveniently immune to fire, played by English actress Emilia Clarke.
Clarke, according to The Hollywood Reporter, is also one of the potential candidates for the role of Sarah Connor in the next Terminator movie. It also lists Brie Larson and Margot Robbie in the running. If true, Clarke may have one advantage – the last actress to play Sarah Connor (in The Sarah Connor Chronicles) was Lena Headey, Clarke’s fellow Game of Thrones star, while Terminator director Alan Taylor has also directed a few episodes of HBO’s hit series.
Taylor, whose current movie Thor: The Dark World is now showing, is apparently set to start testing actors and actresses for the movie starting next week. As for Kyle Reese, word is that Garret Hedlund from TRON: Legacy (2010) is on the shortlist. Variety reporter Justin Kroll has said that Taylor Kitsch (John Carter, Battleship) and Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: First Class, Warm Bodies) are also candidates.
Of course, there’s also the small matter of John Connor. While still in the early stages, The Hollywood Reporter puts Tom Hardy at the top of Taylor’s wishlist. Hardy, as you know, played Bane in The Dark Knight Rises (2012), opposite Christian Bale… who played John Connor in Terminator Salvation (2009).
Oh, and Arnold Schwarzenegger is back to protect a young Sarah Connor.
The Terminator reboot is expected to open in 2015.
Who do you think should play Sarah Connor, Kyle Reese and John Connor in the upcoming movie?
