As you would know from our previous posts, our epic geek trip to the USA back in July was made possible thanks to partners such as Airbnb. We stayed with Airbnb hosts in San Francisco and Albuquerque – now it’s time to tell you about our third stop in Asheville, North Carolina.
We were in Asheville to check out The Hunger Games shooting locations, and we were hosted by Marty and Robyn, who live in a little house in a quiet neighbourhood.
Both Marty and Robyn work in the healthcare industry, and they also run a website selling footwear products. They’re a rather adventurous couple who’ve been all over the world, and there’s even a large map in the living room with pins detailing their travels.
We had a long drive to Asheville from Charlotte, and only reached Marty and Robyn’s house around 9pm. Here’s what our room looked like (before we messed it up with our luggage and stuff):
Here’s some more pictures of the rest of the house:
Gillian and I had long conversations with Marty and Robyn, given that we share common interests such as politics and travel. They’re great to chat with, and also gave us great tips for Asheville such as Biltmore House and Nine Mile, an eatery with Jamaican-themed food. And as it turns out, Marty and Robyn are headed to Singapore next month as well, and we’ll be meeting up again.
Check in with us again on our next Airbnb post, as we tell you about our stay in New York. If you’d like to find out more about Airbnb, click here.
