Now, here’s something that’s exceedingly rare in Hollywood: A big budget movie with an all-Asian cast and an Asian director to boot. And director Jon M. Chu wants YOU to be in the movie, whether you live in Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong or anywhere else in the world.
It’s the adaptation of the best-selling 2013 satirical novel “Crazy Rich Asians” by Singaporean author Kevin Kwan. The book tells the story of three super-rich Chinese families in Singapore and the travails that occur when one of their scions brings his ABC girlfriend home.
Here’s Chu, who most recently helmed the um, not very good Now You See Me 2, on the worldwide casting call.
So there you have it: Get your two-minute videos ready with the hashtag #CrazyRichAsiansCasting. It’s a movie set in Singapore, so let’s have some proper Singaporean actors and Singlish and Singaporean accents, dammit!
