Now, this is one of those stories that is only made possible by the Internets. Opinionated Geek JM Wong was the one who spotted this little bit of news – namely, that the Sorcerer Supreme Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) may just be making an appearance in Thor: Ragnarok.

It all started with this tweet by Collider’s Steven Weintraub:

Nothing unusual about that, of course. What’s more, Doctor Strange filmed in New York, while Thor: Ragnarok is currently filming in Australia. So where’s the connection?

Well, the apparent smoking gun is this photo shared by director Taika Watiti:

Pay attention to the photo of Thor holding a little slip of paper. This is what happens when you zoom in on it:

That’s right: It reads 177A Bleecker Street, the address of the Sanctum Sanctorum of one Stephen Strange. A photo has also emerged today of Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in unexpected costumes:

Just take a look at the newspaper titles behind Tom and Chris, which sound distinctly American. And it’s not that difficult to dress up an Australian locale to make it look like New York.  All of which suggests that the Asgardian brothers, who come from a world of magic, take a trip to New York to consult Doctor Strange.

As JM, who is ridiculously pleased with this development, puts it: Benny and Hiddles onscreen together IN CAPES and possibly smouldering at each other? The Internet will explode.

The Doctor Strange Singapore release date has been set for October 26. Do you want to see the Sorcerer Supreme in Thor: Ragnarok? Tell us!
