Fans of Netflix’s Marvel offerings might have had a lot to cheer over the Comic Con period, with Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders all getting some love, but that also means some of the others will have to wait a while to return to our screens.
Netflix boss Ted Sarandos pretty much said that when asked about the network’s upcoming schedule, with the three series showcased at SDCC already lined up.
“And then we’ll start slotting the second and third seasons of the shows that are upcoming, but they haven’t gone beyond that yet.”
Sarandos was also cautious about promising more than two shows a year, saying that he doubted the network “could produce at the quality that they produce at that speed”.
“But we’re gonna try to make them quicker so we can get less downtime between them,” he said. Still, it does mean we won’t be seeing the next seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones untl 2018.
He was also coy about the chance of Frank Castle, played by Jon Bernthal in Daredevil season 2, showing up in The Defenders, saying “uh… stay tuned”.
Well, that’s a maybe then?
