We normally know Norman Reedus as the guy who saves people with a crossbow on AMC’s The Walking Dead, but good ol’ Daryl Dixon could be doing a different sort of saving – from the memory of Nicholas Cage as Ghost Rider.
No, sorry not sorry for bring that up. In an interview with Uproxx, the motorcycle buff Reedus was asked if he’d be up to take the mantle of the damned biker who makes a deal with a demon should Marvel come calling.
“Hell yeah… It would be a blast. Do I get a skull face that’s on fire and all that stuff? F**k yeah. I’m down,” Reedus said.
Oh, and he also mentioned that he liked Nicholas Cage’s version in the 2007 movie and its 2012 sequel.
I’m not so sure about that last bit, but to be fair, Cage’s Ghost Rider looked pretty badass when his face was a flaming skull.
Reedus, with his love for motorcycles (he’s got his own new show on AMC, Ride with Norman Reedus), would probably know how to get the whole biker look down.
And while Ghost Rider isn’t known for his crossbow skills, I’m sure Reedus would be able to make the any weapon look cool. Besides, they went two movies with Nicholas Cage!
While Marvel got the Ghost Rider rights back from Sony in 2013, Kevin Feige did say at the time that they had no plans for a reboot.
But with Marvel venturing into the arcane world with Doctor Strange (oh Benny), now might be the time to look at other characters which would expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe in that direction.
After all, that’s what they did with Thor (which led to the alien invasion in the first Avengers and helped set up Guardians of the Galaxy).
So, make it happen, internet.
