We have our Daredevil in Charlie Cox, and Vincent D’Onofrio as his bete noir The Kingpin. Now, Rosario Dawson joins the cast of the Daredevil TV series as…who?

Marvel.com announced yesterday that Dawson would play “a dedicated young woman whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell’s Kitchen brings Matt Murdock unexpectedly crashing into her life, while her own journey forever alters the course of his battle against the injustices of this broken city.” So, Elektra then?

Her role has yet to be specified, but head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb had this to say about Dawson:

“Rosario Dawson is one the most charismatic, talented and powerful actresses in Hollywood, so she was always at the top of our list for ‘Marvel’s Daredevil. Her role in the series is absolutely critical to Matt Murdock’s journey to become the hero we know as Daredevil.”

Dawson has appeared in movies such as Sin City (2005) and Trance (2013), and will also feature in the upcoming Sin City: A Dame To Kill For Her acting range means she could very well go dark as the Greek assassin Elektra (though Dawson’s clearly not Greek), or take on a conventional female role like Karen Page or Milla Donovan (two of Murdock’s numerous flames).

There’s even suggestions that she could take on the role of Night Nurse, a mysterious woman who helps patch up wounded superheroes.

But we. Shall. See. The 13-episode Daredevil TV series debuts on Netflix in 2015.
