It’s the stuff that the dreams of a million fanboys and girls are made of. Once he’s done with Thor: Ragnarok, Tom Hiddleston would quite fancy his Loki having a turn with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange.
“In some hypothetical world, I don’t quite know when, for Loki and Dr. Strange to share the same frame would be very exciting indeed. Because Benedict Cumberbatch is an old friend. So I would think it would be interesting to see who would get the upper hand.”
Dammit, Tom! Don’t you know that such statements alone are enough to rent the fabric of the space/time continuum??
Putting aside our shameless fanboy and girl ways, the idea actually does make a lot of sense. Loki’s a Norse with magic-based powers, while Strange is the Sorcerer Supreme. Given that he took the throne of Asgard from Odin (Anthony Hopkins) at the end of Thor: The Dark World (see our review), what chance Strange comes along to throw a spanner in the works?
Hiddleston also didn’t reveal much when asked how many more times he’ll play Loki. He’s just done showing off his spy side in The Night Manager (see our review), and has also been linked with the role of James Bond, so it’s not as if he’s short of options. But he just had to tease us with this:
“Truthfully, I do actually know at the moment how many more times I’m going to play Loki, but I’m not going to tell you. It’s not personal it’s just keeping it fresh for all paying customers to enjoy their films. And also I’m the God of mischief so it’s my predisposition to play games.”
