With Charlie Cox revealed to be playing the blind, butt-kicking lawyer by day and Daredevil by night, it was only a matter of time before Matt Murdock would meet his challenger. Enter Vincent D’Onofrio.
In a statement on Tuesday, Marvel announced that D’Onofrio, a long-time Law & Order: Criminal Intent cast-member, would join the Netflix series as an antognist named Wilson Fisk. Otherwise known as the Kingpin.
“Wilson Fisk is an iconic villain whose cunning and power make him the dangerous equal of our hero,” said Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television. Showrunner Steven DeKnight, who took over from Drew Goddard, also took to Twitter to welcome D’Onofrio to the cast.

D’Onofrio’s character is described “a powerful businessman whose interests in the future of Hell’s Kitchen will bring him into conflict with the blind attorney Matt Murdock and his alter ego Daredevil”.
Daredevil will be the first of a number of Marvel heroes to hit the television, with Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and the martial arts master Iron Fist (still can’t believe they called him that) all being lined up as part of Marvel’s plans for world domination.
What do you think of Vincent D’Onofrio as the Kingpin? Will you be catching the Daredevil TV series?
