Warner Bros CEO Kevin Tsujihara says an announcement on a DC film series is coming “in the near future”, and it will likely include a Justice League movie.

Speaking to the New York Times, Tsujihara also suggested that Warners will take a more “aggressive” approach to bringing the DC Comics universe to the screen. The studio’s certainly been busy – the Gotham TV series is expected in the second half of the year, while the Flash has also made his debut on Arrow, with a view to his own TV series.

Following Marvel’s success at building a cinematic universe, it seems that Hollywood studios are just queuing up to get in on the act too. Fox has already seen great success with its X-Men franchise, though the Wolverine movies haven’t been as well-received. Sony is even looking at a first for comic book movies – a supervillain movie based on the Sinister Six.

As with all copycat endeavours, each will likely see varying degrees of success. Though I’m inclined to agree with comics legend Gerry Conway – Warners doesn’t know what to do with its superhero properties.
