Hulu is the latest network to develop its own Marvel series and it just debuted the first Marvel’s Runaways trailer at New York Comic-Con.
Based on the 2003 comic book series of the same name, Runaways follows a group of teens who band together upon discovering that their parents are actually supervillains in disguise. They run away from home (obviously!) in order to atone for their parents’ actions and uncover the secrets of their origins.
Check out the trailer below:
I feel you, millennials. I would run too if I found out that my folks were part of a doomsday cult and had performed a human sacrifice! The angst, familial struggles, emo soundtrack and instagram-filter visuals – feels like all the other teen soap operas that come out of The CW, doesn’t it?
And no wonder! The showrunners are Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, the creators of popular teen dramas The OC and Gossip Girl. The main cast of Runaways feature six fresh-faced actors that include Gregg Sulkin (no, he was not cast just for his name), Ariela Barer, Lyrica Okano, Allegra Acosta and Rhenzy Feliz.
But the premise sounds rather intriguing and we’re willing to give this a chance, considering the impressive job Hulu did adapting The Handmaid’s Tale. That series went on to win eight Emmy awards last month.
There are 13 episodes in the first season of Marvel’s Runaways and the pilot will debut on November 21 on Hulu. Does the Marvel’s Runaways trailer pique your interest, geeks?
