Another day, another fresh faced newcomer to the X-franchise.
Director Bryan Singer has unveiled the newest addition to the X-Men: Apocalypse cast, and it’s an old fan favourite who has never quite had her day in the sun:
Little is know about Condor – even her IMDB page looks newly set up. But Jubilee is verrrry well known indeed.
Created back in 1989 by Chris Claremont and Marc Silvestri, Jubilation Lee a.k.a. Jubilee Lee was initially a rebellious (of course), wisecracking teenage sidekick.
A Chinese-American girl, she has the power to blast pyrotechnic energy (fireworks!) from her hands and is known for her distinctive yellow trench coat.
Later on, she becomes a vampire and…that’s a story for another post.
While Jubilee had a prominent role in the animated series of the 1990’s, she’s only had (very) limited screen time in the movies. Here’s hoping she gets a bigger role this time round.
Condor joins a cast that already includes Sophie Turner a.k.a Sansa Stark, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence.
Other newcomers to the franchise include Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler.
X-Men: Apocalypse opens May 27, 2016. In the meantime, check out Nic Hoult’s comments that this may be his last mutant movie, and production art from the set that Bryan Singer has teased.
