A teaser trailer for the new Godzilla movie, directed by Gareth Edwards, has been set free upon the internet, and I’m terrified (in a good way). And excited. And terrified again.
The trailer shows a US city under siege from Japan’s favourite atomic mutation as the US Army sends in a brave squad of soldiers to battle the big nasty beast, one of whom is Quicksilver-elect Aaron Taylor-Johnson. He’ll be joined in the movie by Scarlet Witch-elect Elizabeth Olsen, who plays his girlfriend in the Godzilla movie, and her onscreen dad – Heisen… I mean, Walter… I mean, Bryan Cranston. I’m predicting he uses science to save the day. All that’s needed is a Jesse Pinkman cameo (“Science, bitch!”).
It’s a fair bit till the movie is released, but it looks promising. Given that Hollywood’s last Godzilla outing was… well… bad, I have my expectations of this movie. The trailer goes some way to easing my fears (at least Godzilla does not look like an oversized mutated raptor that turns out to be female and lays eggs which hatch into mini mutant raptors), but I’m still crossing my fingers.
Godzilla is scheduled for a May 16, 2014 release.
