You’ve seen Wonder Woman in action in her first solo movie (see our review). Now, there’s a movie coming about the man who created her. Here’s the first mysterious teaser for the upcoming biopic.
Professor Marston & the Wonder Women will reveal the inspirations behind DC’s iconic superheroine and her complicated comics history. Wonder Woman creator William Moulton Marston, a Harvard psychologist who wrote under the name Charles Moulton, led an interesting life.
Not only did he have a hand in inventing the modern lie detector, he and his wife Elizabeth Holloway Marston were in a polyamorous relationship with another woman, Olive Byrne. Pretty far out for a couple from the 1940s!
Both Elizabeth and Olive, who are also empowered women in the field of psychology, are said to have helped William shape Wonder Woman through their feminist beliefs, as well as the trio’s appreciation for the kinkier things in life like bondage. Suddenly, Wonder Woman’s Lasso of Truth takes on a new meaning, eh?
The movie stars Luke Evans as William, Rebecca Hall as his wife Elizabeth and Bella Heathcote as Olive. The cast includes Connie Britton and Oliver Platt, and it’s also got a female director in Angela Robinson!
Considering how Wonder Woman is currently conquering box offices worldwide, the arrival of this teaser is just perfect. And we think it’s cool that Wonder Woman didn’t end with a post-credit scene but rather this teaser that asks audiences to check out the film’s website ProfessorM.movie.
