We picked it as one of our top 20 geek movies to catch this year, and now we get another glimpse at Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Author J. K. Rowling is present this time to emphasise the outsider status of lead character Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne).

Given that Scamander is far more comfortable with magical creatures than humans, as Redmayne puts it, it’s little wonder that he’s a fish out of water in 1920’s America. Nevertheless, given the tender way he strokes Porpentina Goldstein’s (Katherin Waterston, last seen as Steve Jobs’ former paramour in, well, Steve Jobs) hair, there may well be a romance blooming for Newt.

We also get a little peek at the titular fantastic beasts. With a cast that includes Colin Farrell, Samantha Morton and Jon Voight, we at Geek Crusade are hoping this will turn out to be fricking awesome.

The Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Singapore release date has been set for Nov 17.
