It’s official: a FIFTH Game of Thrones prequel is in the works at HBO.

According to Variety, GOT writer and co-executive producer Bryan Cogman has been tapped to pen a potential fifth prequel project for the network. It was reported back in May that multiple prequels were in the works, with HBO later clarifying that they were still in he “embryonic stages”.

Four writers have been confirmed for the Game of Thrones prequels: Max Borenstein, Jane Goldman, Brian Helgeland and Carly Wray.

George R. R. Martin has stressed that each project is a prequel rather than a spinoff and that none of the current main cast will be involved.

  • I’m heard it debated by a YouTuber I follow that it’s going to be more like HBO will create 5 pilots, air them but only go on to develop the most successful one into a series. though I’m not against 5 series; just hope it’s not all about the different wars/rebellions because as a female too many battle scenes bore the heck out of me.
