Once upon a time, Katee Sackhoff seemed destined for greatness. A fan favourite as Kara “Starbuck” Thrace on the immensely popular Battlestar Galactica, she was ferocious, funny and vulnerable, all at the same time (even if the eventual arc of her character made little sense to a lot of fans).

But while Sackhoff has worked steadily in film and TV since the series ended in 2009, the 37-year-old’s career has never quite hit the heights that it once threatened to – even though she was once rumoured to be in the running for the role of Captain Marvel, which eventually went to Brie Larson. Riddick and CSI, anyone?

But now, Sackhoff is about to join another fan favourite TV series in a recurring role. Entertainment Weekly reports that she has signed up for The Flash season 4 as the villain Amunet Black, a.k.a Blacksmith. She’s the Machiavellian boss of an underground black market for supervillains (though there can surely be no greater villain than Barry himself).

Katee Sackhoff will make her first appearance in the fifth episode of season 4, titled “Girls Night Out,” which also serves as a mini-crossover with Arrow. She’ll join other BSG alumni who have also appeared in The CW’s DC series, including Aaron Douglas, James Callis, Tahmoh Penikett, and Rekha Sharma. Fun fact: Penikett also had a small role on Man of Steel.
