There are no plans to crossover Marvel’s Inhumans with Agents of .SH.I.E.L.D. – at least for now, says co-showrunner Jed Whedon. Which is a bit of a surprise, given that Inhumans have featured prominently in AoS storylines.

Speaking to media outlets such as Digital Spy, Whedon said that Inhumans will first set out to build its own niche in the Marvel Cinematic Universe:

“Without being able to say anything really about that show, it will have its own world, just as we tried to start our own world. Whether or not there’s a crossover, we will see.”

Perhaps that’s a wise decision, since it’s still uncertain if AoS will be renewed for a fifth season. Nevertheless, ABC President Channing Dungey expressed hopes that AoS will air alongside Inhumans, which means a crossover may yet happen down the line.

As it is, Inhumans has assembled a very promising cast, which includes Anson Mount as Black Bolt and the former Ramsey Bolton Iwan Rheon as Maximus The Mad. Hopefully, it won’t suffer the same fate as the now-cancelled Agent Carter, which is greatly missed.

Marvel’s Inhumans will premiere on ABC on September 26.
