Star Trek: Discovery has set an official premiere date! The latest series in the franchise will launch in the US on Sunday, September 24 on CBS. The 15-episode season will be released in two parts – the first eight episodes will run from September 24 to November 5, while the serieswill resume in January 2018.

In Asia, Star Trek: Discovery will be available for streaming on Netflix but no date has been officially announced yet.

This comes as a great relief to fans, given that the series was originally set to launch in January this year but suffered numerous delays. Problems ranged from showrunner Bryan Fuller’s exit from the project to difficulties in casting.

No plot details have been revealed thus far but the breathtaking trailer promises that new, strange worlds are waiting to be discovered. Star Trek: Discovery is set about 10 years before Captain Kirk and his Enterprise crew come into picture. It stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Michelle Yeoh, Jason Isaacs, Doug Jones and Anthony Rapp, among others.

All we can say is… beam us up, Scotty!
